This position requires a person who is able to be responsible for planning developing and administering the Center. The Director will be responsible for the Center's policies and the overall program, interviewing, hiring and dismissing staff. The Director shall approve all requests from the teachers for purchasing supplies and equipment for the Center. This person must be able to effectively supervise other staff working in the Center and relate well to both children and adults. Eligibility Criteria: The staff person selected for the position will be chosen according to the following criteria: Education Experience Philosophy Educational Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age. Must have completed high school or its equivalent as determined by the Wisconsin department of public instruction. Must have completed one of the following: a. 2 years of credit from an institution of higher education with at least 12 credits in early childhood education or its equivalent- b. 4 courses for credit in early childhood education or its equivalent from an institution of higher education. c. An associate of arts degree in child care from an institution of higher education. d. 60 credits from an institution of higher education, including 4 courses for credit in early childhood education. General Responsibilities: I. Plan and supervise the overall daily activities of the Center 2. Assure all state licensing rules and center policies are met 3. Coordinate curriculum of the Center with the staff 4. Coordinate transportation of children to and from school 5. Work with kitchen staff in planning appropriate snacks and special meals 6. Assure that all equipment and materials are appropriate and in good condition 7. Purchase supplies needed' in the Center and keep records of the purchases and warranties 8. Maintain inventory of program supplies and equipment 9. Keep the Center attractive, sanitary and orderly along with the other staff 10. Cooperate with congregational members and other groups or organizations using the same building 11. Other duties and responsibilities as delegated by the Board of Directors Enrollment Responsibilities: l. Handle enrollment and discharge of children 2. Keep all children's records as required by the state and the Board of Directors 3. Establish and maintain a good relationship with all parents 4. Communicate with parents on a daily basis as necessary 5. Develop parent policies and inform parents of changes in the policies or operations 6. Collect fees from parents, assure all parents pay fees in a timely fashion 7. parent conferences as needed IV. Personnel Responsibilities: 1. Establish staff hours and maintain staff records as required by the state and the Board of Directors 2. Supervise, train, and orient all new staff 3. Maintain a working relationship with all staff 4. Plan and develop staff in-service 5. Conduct regular staff meetings 6. Supervise, train, and encourage the development of all staff including student teachers or volunteers 7. Organize substitutes when staff are ill or take vacation 8. Monitor and assist in the classrooms whenever necessary 9. Ensure that all staff complete the daily tasks required on their job descriptions 10. Ensure that staff complete time sheets and report the hours worked for each staff member to JRM for payroll Perform administrative duties such as serving as department head. Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students. *


Experience Requirements: Must have two years experience as a child care teacher or center director. Must have one year of experience as a manager or satisfactory completion of one credit or non-credit department approved course in business or program administration
