Set-up and operate Muller Martini Saddle Stitcher, ink-jet systems, tabbers, in-line strappers, drills, and polywrappers.

• Set-up, operate, adjust and maintain equipment
• Direct crews in the functions of boxing, mailing and labeling of products
• Coordinate employee work assignments with the bindery supervisor or lead person when equipment is down
• Ensure compliance with postal regulations and supplied written instructions
• Pull quality samples at required intervals
• Perform mail quality checks on all machines with mailing functions
• Attend and participate in departmental meetings
• Accurately document all production activities on required forms and maintain Logic Direct Machine Interface (DMI) information
• Work in a safe manner and insure the safety of your crew members
• Keep the general work area clean and organized
• Actively participate in company training programs
• Manage crew size for optimum efficiency and books per labor hour
• Have the ability to replace the shift supervisor or lead person during periods of vacation or illness
• Possess good leadership skills and lead by example
• Performs all other duties as assigned

• Must be able to lift 70 pounds occasionally and 35 pounds consistently
• Must interpret verbal and written instructions
• Mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers and fractions
• Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to:
Make-ready, Operate, and maintain a Muller Martini Saddle Stitcher
Interact with scheduling & management to facilitate the daily schedule
Work with press department to aid quality inspection of printed forms before binding
Read and understand the job ticket and work order
Understand customer quality requirements
Understand and use proofs in checking binding attributes
• Demonstrate consistency in the observation of safety procedures
• Demonstrate proficiency in the use of the data collection system and display consistency and accuracy in meeting data collection requirements specified in the quality documentation and by management.
• Demonstrate willingness to accept direction from supervisors, management and peers to improve quality and performance.
• Demonstration willingness to work together with peers and other departments to improve quality and performance.
• Demonstrate good mechanical ability
• Possess good basic computer skills
Experience on the job to perform satisfactorily: 2 years
